I’ve installed MaxWiki now what do I do?

If MaxWiki has been installed for you by someone else, like your IT department for example, you can skip down to “Logging Into My Website”

After installing MaxWiki on your server, you will want to actually start a MaxWiki software. To do this on a Windows or Apple computer, from the desktop double-click on the “MaxWiki Start” icon. The next thing that will happen is a window will open that will show things like Mongrel, Ruby, Rails, and mySQL starting up. This is perfectly normal and you should wait until the scrolling text in the window stops. At this point MaxWiki is ready for users to login and start adding the information they want to share on their website.

Logging into My Website

After MaxWiki is started, open your web browser and type the URL address of the computer running the MaxWiki software. If your IT department installed MaxWiki you can ask them (they will tell you something like http://MaxWiki.yourschoolname.com). If you installed MaxWiki yourself on your computer, type in the following URL address: http://localhost:3000. In either case the next screen that should come up in your web browser will look something like:

If your IT department provided you with a username and password, go ahead and type them in, then click the login button. If this is the first time you are logging into MaxWiki that you installed on one of your computers, type in the following default username and password: blah blah blah blah blog law, then click the login button. In either case, you should now be logged in to MaxWiki and are ready to begin creating your own website.
