Different types of MaxWiki users
Unlike traditional websites that require a webmaster to “manage” the information presented for everyone else who have only read access to the webpages, MaxWiki embraces the concept of allowing groups of users to collaborate on the the information presented on a website. There are four basic types of MaxWiki users and they are:
Administrators – these users have the ability to assign user types to others
Editors – these users can contribute information directly onto webpages
Users – after logging into your website (if this feature is turned on) these users can read webpages that arenot made available to public users
Public – these users have read only access to the information presented on the webpages
By using combinations of these 4 different user types, an individual or a group of people can provide information that will be presented on the MaxWiki webpages.
Who assigns real people to the 4 user types?
There is an "Admin" button (red circle below) that will provide you with the "Add New User" screens. If the "Admin" button does not appear on your webpages, your IT folks have probably put everybody’s name into MaxWiki and assigned everyone a default user type.
This screenshot shows where you select what access permissions you will give to each of the three user types (plus where the “Editors” put their webpage content).
