Google Webmaster Tools
MaxWiki allows you to send a RSS feed to Google so that your site will be indexed. Here are the steps to do this:
- Signup for a Google Webmasters Tools account
- Add your site
- Select Verify -> Add a meta tag
- Copy (Ctrl-C) the content string. That is, if it shows: <meta name="verify-v1" content="xyzzy" />
The content string is: xyzzy
- Go to your MaxWiki site, Admin -> Configuration -> Main
- In the “Google Sitemap Verification” field, paste (Ctrl-V) the content string and select the Update button
- Then expire the cache using Admin -> Configuration -> Expire Cache
- Go back to Google Webmasters Tools and click “Verify”
- After it has verified correctly, click on Sitemaps -> Add a Sitemap -> Add General Web Sitemap
- Enter “rss_with_headlines?limit=0”
That is it! Now Google will have a sitemap of your MaxWiki site and this will help Google index it.
